i am the girl who tastes of molasses
sassafras root
licorice
sarsaparilla
vanilla
honey
clove
and anise.

i am the girl who smells of coconut
soft mimosa,
wet honeysuckle,
wild freesia,
apricot nectar
oud wood,
orris,
and warm woods

i am the girl who feels like new cotton
electrical tape
guitarist's fingers
candle wax
drying ink
acrylic paint
table edges
and sleep.

i am the girl who has laid curled in your bed,
waited up for you to get home,
held you while you cried,
supported you through your rough times,
made you smile when no one else could,
kept all of your secrets,
remained patient through your anger,
and has stayed by your side through all of our disagreements.

i am the girl who will walk by your side when the time comes,
hold your hand whenever i can
still pick on you, even when we're old and grey
be there through it all, thick and thin
teach you to see the world through my eyes and see through yours too
show you a world that is so much brighter than it seems
listen to your thoughts
and love you as long as i shall live.
