and i look up at the ceiling.
different from how i remember,
and then it hits me.

i am not home,
and i am not alone.

i have another body pressed against mine,
another arm wrapped around my torso.

i have a foreign blanket rubbing against my skin,
heavier than i remember.

the room smells different,
not at all the fruity, woodsy smell
of the room i'm used to waking up in.

i blink again in the darkness,
my eyes finally adjusting to the light
and i remember where i am.

i roll over,
tucking my face into the neck of my companion.
i know where i am.
when you wake up in the arms
of the person you love,
you wake up in heaven.}
